SCFA’s past newsletters contain a wealth of information about our Local’s victories, struggles, organizational history, and views from multiple author-leaders who’ve helped shape our Union.

Thank you to the editors, website leads, graphic designers, and communication professionals overtime at SCFA who have sometimes written directly to the membership, and other times done behind-the-scenes work to keep the communication going. Your work continues to matter.

View the first issue of the “SCFA Sentinel,” Feb 2000, launched three year’s after SCFA was formally recognized as the exclusive representative of a united faculty at Sierra College. This archive includes thirty-three issues of the SCFA Sentinel, 2000-2007. The Sentinel won a competitive, statewide award from the Communication division of the California Teacher’s Association in 2001.

In addition to the Sentinel, six issues of the more recent “SCFA At-A-Glance,” 2022-2024, each in white and black versions are also included below. They include information on accessing and using CTA travel benefits, faculty lunches, updates, and more.

Across the publications, consider SCFA’s work raising a faculty voice, empowering members, building community, and winning better pay, benefits, and working conditions in an on-going push that ebbs and flows over time. What has SCFA won? What issues persist? What did it take to win at the bargaining table? What’s it like to be a Union leader? Read on! Thank you to all of the SCFA leads who worked to make and share our Union’s story.
